Jimmy Duffy Legacy of Service Recipient: Preston K.
Over the past year, Preston went above and beyond their elected duties and provided an ever-present helping hand to all who called upon him. Coming into this year, Preston had the respect of both youth and adults alike, and throughout 2023 he worked hard to push our lodge forward.
His nomination reads in part, “Preston dedicated countless hours to serving the camp and the lodge through sleepless nights at Camp Barstow and constant work away from camp. He dedicated himself this past year to ensuring that the new lodge started off on the right foot and that the traditions of both legacy lodges were preserved.”

Bernie Moore Legacy of Service Recipient: Kyle Hughes
During the 2023 lodge year, Mr. Hughes gave outstanding service to Muscogee Lodge, helping the lodge to achieve great success and setting the standard for what we can and should be as an organization. Before this year, Mr. Hughes' talents had been underutilized, but through the opportunity that the merger presented, he truly was an invaluable part of the adult adviser team.
Mr. Hughes' nomination reads in part, “Mr. Hughes chipped-in at every event, even in areas where he was not directly responsible. Over the past year, he truly was an asset to ensuring this merger is a success. Without his help, many of the things we have achieved this year would not have been possible.”
Muscogee Lodge #116 is pleased to present the 2023 Bernie Moore Legacy of Service Award to Lodge Program Adviser, Kyle Hughes.
Founder's Award Recipient: Greg Smith
Mr. Smith has distinguished himself over a lifetime of servant leadership, beginning as a youth member, serving as a chapter chief, lodge officer, Vigil chair, and eventually lodge chief. He served on Camp Barstow staff for many years, both as a youth and as an adult, with a particular focus on the waterfront. His service to the Order has only grown with time, having been elected to serve as Section Vice Chief of the former Section SR-5 and currently serving as adviser to the Section Administration Coordinator. However, most critical contributions, have come with the formation of this new lodge, Muscogee #116. His relentless dedication to both the merger taskforce and the lodge leadership team were foundational to the successes we enjoyed this year and will continue to experience for years to come.
His nomination reads in part: “Mr. Smith quickly established himself as a reliable, intelligent, enthusiastic member…[who is both] inspiring and motivational. Had Muscogee #221’s tradition of bestowing the Founder’s Award been different [in the past], this [selection] committee would not be presented with the truly special opportunity to recognize a Scout and Scouter of his caliber and achievement.”
